The village of Emba is one of the biggest villages in the area. Its spread over a wide area it not only borders Paphos but also the villages, Chloraka, Kissonerga, Tala, Tremithousa and Mesogi. According to the tradition Emba got its name in the following way. At the entrance to the village near the border with Paphos there was a farm estate gate with a sentry. For someone to gain access to the farm he had to give his permission. He would do this by saying "EMBA" (Enter). Enhancing the village square, there is a 12th century church Panayia Chryseleoussa (the Virgin Mary, The Mother of Christ). It is built in Byzantine style and its interior walls are decorated with frescoes, some of which are of outstanding historical and religious interest. Thousands of tourists visit the church each year to admire its architecture and the wonders it contains. Recently a new church was constructed near the old one it was dedicated to the apostle Andreas (St. Andrew) and on his name day, 30th November, a religious festival is held on the church grounds. Apart from this new church there are also many small chapels scattered around the rest of the village. Emba has a few shops and tavernas spotted along the narrow winding road that runs through the village. In the evening the local men can be seen sitting outside their local and often spilling out onto the narrow roads on their wooden chairs.
Paphos go-Karting is a must it has a great track the biggest on the island The more adventurous can have a go on the twin engine carts while the smaller children have their own track. Or you can have a drink and watch them all have fun. Food Eating is the Cypriots favourite pastime they just love food “Kopiaste”- sit down with us, eat and drink with us, be welcome! The traditional “meze” meal makes sampling very simple; it consists of hot and cold dishes providing a tasty sample of Cypriot cuisine. Fish and meat dishes, even vegetables, are frequently roasted on the charcoal grill or in large dome shaped clay ovens Water park Aphrodites water park is well worth a visit.you can spend the whole day there it is great fun After you have relaxed around the pool and soaked up some rays, there are plenty of thing to fill in your time. Water Sport The safe, clear and warm waters around Cyprus mean that water sports can be enjoyed all year round, making the island an ideal destination for those who enjoy swimming, sailing, yachting, surfing, diving and water skiing. Qualified instructors are available, if required, to teach those skills at all levels. A privately own jet ski is available to hire. Hiking The best time for this is in the autumn but the winter can also be a good choice thanks to the mild temperatures. Many hiking trails are found in the Akamas area near Polis and the region around Paphos, such as the Avakas Gorge. Cycling For those who prefer wheels to walking, the island can be discovered by cycling along many interesting trails, especially on the Akamas Peninsula and the hills of the Troodos massif. Mountain bikes for rental are available I n all tourist resorts. Golf Golf enthusiasts can choose from two professional courses on the island: the Tsada Golf north of Paphos and the Secret Valley east of Paphos. Horse riding Horse riding can be great fun for all levels. Early morning and evening rides are the norm as it gets too hot Any other time. You can go for a canter in the forest or a gentle Walk along the beach and the sea caves.
