Casa Bella Vista holiday accommodation is in the small village of Castiglion Fosco in the Comune Di Piegaro 12 km South East of Lake Trasimeno, close to the small town of Tavernelle.
Within a 40 mile (60 km) radius of Castiglion Fosco are the ancient hill towns of Gubbio, Spello, Cortona, Spoleto, Orvieto and Todi, each with its medieval centre. Perugia, the region's capital, is 15 miles (25 km) away, a stylish university city with striking medieval architecture, important Etruscan remains and major works of art.
Perugia is North East of Castiglion Fosco where there are numerous attractions including the medieval heart of the town where you can visit the Palazzo dei Priori, justifiably hyped as one of the greatest public places in Italy and the Galleria Nazionale, which boasts the region’s best collection of Umbrian art.
The city has an above average number of films, concerts and miscellaneous cultural events, and is highlighted further at Umbria Jazz (held in July), Italy’s foremost jazz festival, whose stars have included Miles Davies, Stan Getz, Wynton Marsalis and Gil Evans.
To the South and East lies Umbria's wildest scenery - the forests and gorges of the Valnerina, the mountain peaks and remote alpine pastures of the Monti Sibillini.
The Tuscan town of Chiusi is 20 minutes drive to the West where there is car hire available. The station is on the main train route north from Rome (approx. 2 hrs).
The landscape is dotted with many picturesque medieval villages, and the people of the area are known for their distinctive cuisine, friendliness and hospitality. This wonderful, tranquil region offers visitors a gorgeous, clean, natural environment, as well as medieval art and architecture, and many sites of historical interest in the countryside.

This fully refurbished holiday apartment is the top floor of a 200 year old 3 storey building with stunning views both to the front and rear. The front view can be seen from a 4 metre long balcony that is accessible through French doors from the lounge. The apartment has two large double bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom on two levels. The second bedroom has two single beds and there is separate shower room and toilet. The lounge has a bed settee which makes the accommodation capable of sleeping 6. Both the lounge and kitchen have open fires and logs are available for the winter months, although there is full gas central heating if needed. The kitchen/diner is fully fitted and bright and airy with Fridge/freezer, electric oven and a gas hob with an extraction hood, microwave and dishwasher. It also boasts, as with all the other rooms, high beamed ceilings that rise up high with the pitch of the roof. There are 2 allocated, off road, parking spaces outside, under the shade of our very own olive tree.
