Indicates location of property Spain > Catalonia (Costa Brava) > Costa Brava > Begur > Girona ABOUT THE AREA ~ this is the unspoilt COSTA BRAVA or CATALUNYA which is free from large Tour Operated holidays and where most of the properties are owned by Barcelonians. It is rarely overcrowded and has retained real Spanish charm without a souvenir shop in sight! This is an area you will want to return to again and again.... Every day there will be a different place of interest to visit, be it a cultural pursuit or another sundrenched sandy cove with clear water to while away the day. All the coastal resorts here have waterfront restuarants, cafes and shops and it is a real pleasure to wander the little streets around the front and enjoy the spectacular scenery that this rugged coastline offers. Development here is mainly villas as the terrain does not allow for large apartment blocks and the coastline remains intact with some wonderful coastal path walks. BEGUR ~ This charming hillside town with its cobbled streets offers the visitor an outstanding choice of Catalan restaurants, tapas bars and shops. The main square has entertainment in the high season and there are many late night bars and a couple of discos. The overall atmosphere is very Spanish with local artists` paintings and crafts displayed in the square during the summer. Every Wednesday there is a market sellling fruit/veg clothes and accessories. There are excellent supermarkets,specialist fishmonger, butchers` shops and freshly baked bread available in many shops. There are many other places of interest including Salvador Dali's castle at PUBOL and his amazing museum at FIGUERES, where you cannot fail to be drawn in by his diverse art. At LA BISBAL the streets are littered with ceramic shops and there is also an antique centre. GIRONA is a wonderful small city to visit, known as mini-Barcelona, with its own charming ramblas and interesting shops and pavement restaurants. BARCELONA, if you crave city life, is one hour by train from FLACA (20mins by car from BEGUR) and here you can leave your car and get right into the centre of BARCELONA by train. The border of FRANCE is approximately one hour away but you will find all you need and more in this beautiful and charming unspoilt region of SPAIN, Costa Brava, Catalunya. The nearest beach to LA JULIVIA is at TAMARIU which taking a short cut route is a 7 minute drive. Here you will find the prettiest sandy bay with a promenade and waterfront restaurants, shops and cafes. Within 10-15 minutes are the excellent beaches and coastal villages of AIGUABLAVA, SA RIERA, CALELLA DE PALAFRUGELL and LLAFRANC all with their own unique character. the coastal path walk between Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc provides a relaxing pre-dinner stroll, followed by a drink at one of the many waterfront cafes and bars, whilst enjoying the spectacular scenery enroute. There are so many places of interest including many inland medieval towns such as PERETALLADA, 20 mins from Begur. This village is kept in pristine condition and has some very individually styled restaurants and shops. Visit Salvador Dali's castle which he gifted to his wife Gala, at PUBOL and his amazing museum at FIGUERES, where you cannot fail to be drawn in by his diverse art. Be sure to take a map with you or buy one in a newsagent's store. This is an area of immense beauty and car hire is very highly recommended if you want to take advantage of the area. It is adviseable to arrange car hire prior to your holiday and we can arrange this on your behalf, as well as flights. La Julivia is 1.3km or 3 mins by car from BEGUR with many local sandy beach resorts within 7-15 minutes drive. There is a local supermarket and restaurant within approximately 500m of the villa. Approached by a private drive to electric gates and parking for 2 or 3 cars. The house faces due south and enjoys sun all day with shaded areas including the covered dining terrace which has part shade. There are also blinds along the terrace to provide extra shade.

MORE INFORMATION: Sunbeds adorn the large decking surround to the pool and there are areas of natural shade as well as awnings which can be extended from the windows. There are two double and two twin bedrooms all with doors to the terrace and fitted with quality furnishings. The swimming pool is a very good size ~ 10m x 4m and has easy access to the shower and additional kitchen with eating area and bbq. Ideal accommodation for a very easy holiday. Less than 5mins drive is the village of Begur where you will be spoiled for choice of restaurants, tapas bars, late night bars and exquisite shops. In 7 minutes by car you can reach the delightful coastal village of Tamariu with its sandy bay and waterfront restaurants and within 10-15 mins are the beach villages of Sa Riera, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Aiguablava. Beach activities, snorkelling, diving- 2min drive. The beaches in this region are superb. All sandy with blue flags and mostly a shallow entrance making it safe for little ones. There is rarely overcrowding as there is such a choice of beaches and some are relatively unknown by tourists. This area attracts many spaniards from Barcelona and other parts of Spain, many of whom have holiday homes here. Go-karting for kids and adults-10mins drive. Water park- 20mins drive. Golf- many golf courses within 10-20 mins drive. Sailing- 10mins drive. There is a sailing club at Sa Riera and kayaks and pedallos for hire. Kayaks also at Calella. Cultural activities- all over the region: Figueres- Dali's museum- 40mins drive Medieval towns- 15-20 mins drive- Peratallada- a must to visit. Restaurants- too numerous to mention. Begur has a very good choice as do the coastal villages. Shops- an interesting selection of very good shops selling clothes, jewellery, etc. Food- excellent speciality shops in Begur for fish and meat plus very good supermarkets. Cycling- bykes can be hired in Palafrugell Walking- this is wonderful walking country, especially out of season when it is not so hot. The tourist office has a map showing popular walks. Skiing- within 3 hours you can be on the slopes in Andorra. Night life- plenty if you want it but there is not a string of discos here. Mainly late night cellar bars with music, some with dancing. There is a club in Begur and one just outside, not far from the villa but well away from everything and everyone! The two squares in Begur have entertainment in the high season with a mixture of traditional and modern music and dancing. Wonderful to just sit and watch!
