Malia Old Town is situated on the north coast of Crete, 25 minutes from Crete's capital Heraklion airport. Buses run every 30 minutes in summer in each direction to Heraklion and Agios Nikalaus.
There is a Water Park 20 minutes away at Anapolis. You can take a trip to Spinalonga, which was Europe's last leper colony via Elounda and Agios Nikolaos. Popular day trips are Samaria Gorge and Imbros Gorge. Crete's first 18 hole golf course is about 20 minutes away. There is an Aquarium at Stalis. Only a couple of kilometres away is the Minoan Palace archaeological site. The beach is within 12 minutes walk, as are the nightlife and clubs of Beach Road
Malia Old Town Village is a particular place of its own. The picturesque, paved narrow alleys with the traditional houses and courtyards, chocked with flowers embellish the picture of the village whilst creating a unique romantic atmosphere. There are many small but remarkable churches spread all over the village. One in particular to visit is the church "Galantiani" dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
The sounds of Greek music, together with the traditional and tasteful tavernas and restaurants which are a real gastronomy, with all the Cretan delicacies. will certainly sharpen the visitors appetite.
