The Etruscan Coast is in the centre of Tuscany, between Versilia to the north and the Maremma region to the south. An area stretching for 50 miles from Livorno to Piombino, characterized by spectacular rocks and wide sandy beaches facing the Isle of Elba. Not far inland are the gently rolling Tuscan hills covered by vineyards and olive groves, a string of medieval towns and villages, and the magnificent Etruscan city of Volterra. The area is best known for olive oil and wine (two fine wines, Sassicaia and Ornellai, are produced in Bolgheri), but there is a wide range of fine local produce. The unique microclimate (mild winters and dry, breezy summers) make the Etruscan Coast the ideal place for a holiday immersed in nature with endless opportunities for relaxation, sport, culture and fine cuisine.
Guardistallo is a medieval hillside village, whose first human settlement dates back to 4-5,000 years BC, flourished under the Longobards, and later under the Gherardesca counts. The remains of the castle can still be admired today. In the village there are shops selling local produce, cafés, restaurants, pirrerie,a pharmacy and a bank.
The ancient Villa Elena, once the residence of the noble Marchionneschi family, is situated in a peaceful setting with panoramic views, within walking distance of the centre of Guardistallo, a medieval hill-town in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, 7 miles from the sandy beaches and shady pine-woods along the coast. Recently renovated, it retains its original character as a sober, elegant private dwelling.
No two the same, the apartments are located in the main Villa in the main house and the nearby annexes They are all spacious and comfortable, furnished in Tuscan style, with a fully-equipped kitchen area, telephone, satellite TV, safe, and hairdryer.

The three-room apartments (type B,) can sleep up to 6 people. They comprise of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, two bathrooms, and a living room with a kitchen area. Two extra beds can be in the living room or the bedroom.
Walking through the large gardens or sunbathing in the sun lounge next to the two swimming pools, guests can admire the magnificent views over olive groves and vineyards as far as the sea. Villa Elena is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday in a family atmosphere, with beautiful scenery, fine cuisine, sport and culture, and traditional local events. It is ideally situated for visits to places of interest around Tuscany: Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Massa Marittima, Bolgheri and the famous “DOC wine area” (Sassicaia, Ornellaia), the Island of Elba, national parks and spas.
How to get to the Residence Villa Elena Guardistallo
Motorway A12 Genova-Livorno-Rosignano Marittimo.
Drive until the end of motorway, way-out: Rosignano Marittimo, then take the freeway Superstrada direction Grosseto-Roma, way out Cecina Centro (not Cecina Nord).
Turn left after 100m. You will find a crossroads: take direction Guardistallo.
Follow this road for approximately 9 km. On the top of the hill you will find the sign Guardistallo/Villa Elana. Turn to the right and you will see our house.
