The village itself dates back to the 15th century and has a picturesque port which is flanked with numerous restaurants. The area is renowned for the production of oysters and mussels (particularly Bouzigues which is just up the coast). There are two beaches in Meze either side of the port and a local market on Thursdays and Sundays; local shops and 2 supermarkets. So all provisions can be acquired without having to drive. Geographically it is well appointed to tour Herault and Languedoc/Roussillon. Whatever your interests there is something for everyone - unlimited beautiful & historical places to visit; sample the wine in the region's domains (private wine producers). Herault is the largest wine producing area in France. The climate is excellent. Easily accessible from England - by plane Ryanair to Montpellier; Nimes; Perpignan or by car either using the autoroutes which are chargeable or take advantage to see other parts of France by choosing the 'A' roads.
