Cyprus > Larnaca Region > Oriklini The Surrounding Area The village of Oroklini (also sometimes known by it’s original name of Voroklini) is a quaint traditional village but with modern facilities on offer. There are a few tavernas/restaurants offering good quality Cypriot and international fare, traditional coffee houses/bars and facilities such as supermarkets, chemist, bank, hairdresser etc. Also on offer is a leisure centre, go-kart track and even donkey riding! There are also two churches in the village and the Oroklini hill is a favourite for walkers & hikers – breathtaking views can be had from the summit. Along Larnaca Bay, which is within easy reach, you will find beaches – including a Cyprus Tourism Organisation (C.T.O) beach with tourist facilities – as well as numerous restaurants, offering local and foreign cuisine (Chinese, Indian, Italian, Mexican etc), bars, hotels, nightclubs, shops, car/cycle hire outlets, taxi hire, even quad bike hire! There is also a bowling venue. Approximately 7 kilometres from the villa you will find Larnaca, Cyprus’ third largest towns and one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world. Here a wealth of facilities are on offer as well the reknowned and popular palm tree lined promenade by the sea front – known locally as ‘Finikoudes’ (the Greek word for palm trees). There is a C.T.O. beach there. You will find numerous shops, bars and restaurants in the town as well as sites of historical & cultural interest such as churches, museums and a fort. Many tourist flock to Finikoudes to use the beach, have lunch in one of the cafes/restaurants or just have a drink or ice cream and watch the world go by. At night Finikoudes is also a hive of activity, with the many bars attracting both locals and tourists. Saturday evening in particular is a favourite time for local families to take a leisurely stroll along the sea front. Further afield there is easy motorway access to the capital Nicosia , the town of Limassol (both are good for sightseeing, shopping and nightlife), the beautiful Troodos mountains and the lively sea side resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras. All these destinations can be reached within an hour by car. The popular and historical town of Paphos is around 1 hour and 30 minutes away. Car hire is recommended as public transport is not so readily accessible in Cyprus!
