Italy > Sicily > Gioiosa Marea
Located approx. 60 km west of Messina, along the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily, the Eoliana is just in front of the Aeolian Islands and very close to the ancient Greek Roman town of Tyndaris and to the beautiful town of Gioiosa Marea. This tranquil retreat, a superb base for a break, is a perfect corner for privacy, comfort and quietness. It is an ideal place for exploring our beautiful and varied country. Guests coming to the Villa Eoliana will be staying in a bio – fruit and olive farm adorned by luxuriant tropical plants. They will be able to pick their own choice of seasonal fruit. Vegetables biologically grown and bio-olive oil are available upon request The estate is located in that part of the Gulf of Patti enclosed within Cape Tyndaris and Cape Calavà. Set amidst renowned scenic country, it makes a superb base for exploring all our beautiful Island has to offer. It faces the Aeolian Islands; Vulcano is only 11 miles away and, easily reachable by means of small speedboats. Our seawater is warm and clean; the shore is sandy with gently rising water. Peculiar to this area of the Sicilian coast is the sequence of rocky capes embedded into beautiful sandy shores, all sloping down into blue, crystal clear waters. Rising steeply at the back of the coast are the Nebrodi Mountains (Nebrodi Natural Park) which are the main reason why this province is so green and cool; not only they offer great protection against the African all-oppressive hot winds coming from the South, but, also, the great quantity of water sources existing allow vegetation to grow thickly. All this improves dramatically the micro climate of the area. Olive-trees and, other typical Mediterranean plants offer rich and striking view, extending from the salty fragrance of the seashore, right up to the pastures of Mount Etna. Historically, in this area there are some of the most ancient Greek and Roman Sicilian sites such as the Greek Theatre in Tyndaris or the Roman Villa in Patti (with mosaic floors no less important than the ones in Piazza Armerina). There are also two beautiful Norman Castles, in Milazzo and in Montalbano Elicona, belonging to Frederic the Second and quite a number of Saracen Towers along the coast. |

| Villa Eoliana is an independent property located on a cliff top overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and within a secluded privately owned farm estate. It is immersed in, and almost submersed by, a luxuriant vegetation; a tranquil retreat, a haven of quietness, privacy and relaxation. Garden is full of hydrangeas, oleanders, bougainvilleas, lantanas, palm trees, lemon trees and very, very, old olive trees, which are almost stuck into the house. A charming external staircase leads up to a very big solarium terrace. Up here, night and day, there is a striking 360° view: the Nebrodi Montains, the Tyndaris Cape, the Milazzo Cape, the Aeolian Islands. What an eye sight! The Eoliana is built in the typical architectural style of the islands it faces and owes to this its peculiar charm. It is suitable for 4 persons sleeping in a main double bedroom and in a second one with 2 bunk beds (plus 2 more using a sofa bed in the living room). This spacious living room, with 2 door windows facing one another, is equipped with a chest of drawers, a coffee table and 2 extra fold away double sofa beds. An arch leads to the dining room, fitted with all old Sicilian furniture. This room gives direct access to the kitchen the bedrooms and the bathroom. Only the bathroom does not have a door window overlooking the loggias running on the two sides of the house. The built-in kitchen has majolica work tops, wooden cabinets and all necessary equipment such as fridge, freezer and microwave. The main bedroom has a painted chest of drawers and built-in wardrobe while the bunk bedroom, besides the built-in wardrobe, has a writing table. Bathroom has a comfortable built-in shower, while a second heated shower is to be found just beyond the loggia, under the foliage of an olive tree. The 2 loggias are the most peculiar feature of the Eoliana and, make an important extension to the house, allowing a life "en plein air". Walking out of the kitchen is an outdoor built-in cooking area fitted with gas oven, where one can cook and dine "al fresco". The washing machine is in the laundry-house, a free standing building with a washtub outside. Sat TV, central heating, safe, inter phone, garden furniture and solarium furniture is provided. Cot available upon request. Parasols and sun deck chairs are available on our private area of the sandy beach. |
