The area is the second sunniest in France, after the Cote d'Azur - but without their prices or crowds !
Situated in the beautiful Charente Maritime ("land & sea : the elements of success"), but in the south of it (where the countryside is more interesting/undulating) and within easy striking distance of the Aquitaine/Gironde, including the Medoc.
In the middle of the countryside (surrounded by vines and sunflowers) but within 10 minutes of the Gironde Estuary and within 30 minutes of the nearest beach.
The property is in a small hamlet of about 12 houses and a farm, but within 10 minutes of the nearest small town (Mirambeau) and 20 minutes of a larger one (Jonzac)
Activities
There are loads of interesting places to visit and things to do (if/when you tire of just lying around the pool during the summer !!), including sleepy villages and livelier towns, beaches, chateaux/wine tasting, nature reserves, outside activities (for those into them !) including fishing, horse riding, walking and bird watching - or just sitting outside bars watching the world go by !
Just 20 minutes from the brand new tropical complex "Les Antilles de Jonzac" with year round summer warmth, indoor/outdoor pools/lagoons & beach, fitness centre and restaurant.
For those who like nightlife (gay or otherwise) as well as the country life, Bordeaux is about 45 minutes away - with smaller scale nightlife available at Saintes (30 mins), Niort (60 mins) or beautiful La Rochelle (75 mins)

The gite can also be hired by the day between October and May, please ask for prices. June - September the gite can only be booked by the week (Saturday/Saturday).

The gite is specifically designed around the needs of couples (or 2 friends !) and the owners Martin and Christopher take pride in welcoming and respecting the diversity of their guests, regardless of background

All we ask in return is that guests show the same respect to ourselves and our neighbours. So please don't book the gite if you feel uncomfortable with the idea of hiring a gite from a same sex couple, or if you aren't prepared to offer a passing "bonjour !" to our neighbours !
and finally ... please don't book if you are looking for us to be your professional replicators or if you're after information about how to run a gite business! We welcome house hunters, but you do need to find the way that's right for you. We can't do it for you! |
