Indicates location of property Portugal > North Portugal > Viana do Castelo > Afife Afife is situated between hills and the sea, 11 kms north of the historical town of Viana do Castelo. Nearest large towns Oporto 90 kms south and Vigo (Spain) 70 Kms north. Nearest airports: OPORTO and VIGO (Vigo is in Spain). The pleasant old little town of Caminha is about 11 kms north of Afife. Caminha has a large "piazza" with several cafés where you can relax and do some "people watching". From Caminha you can take a ten minute ferry boat trip across the Minho river delta to Spain. Afife has 4 restaurants, 3 grocery stores, 3 cafés plus 2 cafés by the beach, a chemist open daily from 9 to 12 midnight. The beach is about 2 kms from the house. If you enjoy walking you can take walks in the village itself which spreads over a large area or go up to the hills and get fantastic views, or walk by the ocean where you have over 5 kms of Atlantic shoreline. Afife is in the Minho province, famous for "vinho verde" (a white slightly sparkling young wine) and for the greenery of its inland scenery. Inland there are several old historical towns and villages. All of the area is still to be discovered by foreign tourists.

For non-smokers. not suitable for young children (cot babies welcome). Our garden cottages or self catering bungalows are quite new and contain everything you need for your stay: bed and kitchen linen, beach and pool towels, pots and pans, table cloths, glasses, cups, microwave, fairly large fridge-freezer (so that you don't have to constantly go shopping), etc.  In any case, since we live just across the garden should you need/lack anything feel free to ask.  We are generally discreet and try our best to be "invisible" but are always there for assistance should you need it.  We have a large very well stocked library with a few hundred books in English, magazines, board games, etc. which you can borrow. Bikes also have two bikes if you´d like to go around the village by bike.  You can use them by request and by paying a E-50 refundable security deposit. There is garden furniture, you can borrow beach umbrellas if you prefer the beach to the pool and a set of croquet for the lawn! Pool: shared pool 10m x 5m. The garage has space for two cars and above the garage there is a small terrace from which you can enjoy views of the hillside. The garden /pool faces the ocean. "Casa Santa-Rita" is situated in an extremely narrow (thus Very Quiet) country lane (used to be a pathway for sheep only!) so only small cars can drive into the garage, large cars will have to be parked on public road nearby (please remember this when you hire a car). We encourage birds to visit our garden, are nature lovers, enjoy sharing some of life´s moments with other "creatures great and small" !
