Turkey > Aegean Region > Altinkum
Altinkum means “golden sands” and with its beautiful sandy beaches which gently shelve into the inviting turquoise blue Aegean, you will soon see how the resort got its name. Stretching from the small harbour at one end of the bay to a rocky headland at the other lie three beaches and over one kilometre of sand. Pedalos are available, however for the more adventurous, Altinkum offers water sports, diving courses and fishing tours.
During the summer season there are daily boat trips which explore the many natural coves, bays and beaches in the local area.
The local market, held every Saturday is well worth a visit. Be prepared to barter as you soak up the atmosphere!
Altinkum is a friendly resort with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Nightlife mainly revolves around the numerous bars and restaurants although Dolphin Square provides a lively alternative for many.
Altinkum itself is very close to ancient towns and natural wonders. These can be discovered through organised tours by local travel agents or independently using public transport or through car hire.
Local attractions include : Temple of Apollo, Lake Bafa, Akköy village, Didyma - Miletos - Priene, Söke Market, Kusadasi Market, Bodrum, Ephesus - Virgin Mary's house, Pamukkale, Aphrodisias, Dalyan. |
