Marseillan is a port village on the Etang de Thau, an inland sea opening onto the Mediterranean at Sete and connected to the canal du Midi. It is 40 kilometres from Montpellier and all the attractions of that great city and 30 kilometers from Beziers. The Camargue is next door. Spain and Italy are all accessible from this coast. The area has many outdoor activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, parasurfing, boat trips and sites of interest such as abbeys, historical villages, geological caves for pot-holing and stalactites, wine tasting and bird watching, sites of dinosaur egg finds, gallo roman remains, elegant 18th. century towns, antiques fairs and markets.
