Within the Vioreau forest our cottage is ideal for nature lovers and star gazers with a wealth of interesting wild life and a black velvet sky full of stars. The large tranquil fishing lake is 1 minute walk from the cottage and has been used regularly for the French National fishing championships: the larger lake, (3 minutes drive away) as well as offering its beach for safe swimming, has pedaloes, canoeing and sailing. The area is excellent for walking and cycling and local maps and itineraries are available for your use. Fishing permits can be arranged locally and cycles can be hired. Vioreau is close to recommended restaurants, bars and one of the best creperies for miles around.
Nearby is the historical town of Chateaubriant where there is a lively local market and whose chateau is an interesting mix of the medieval and renaissance. It has a variety of restaurants, bars and supermarkets and a helpful and comprehensive tourist information office.
The vibrant city of Nantes is about 30 minutes drive away. Here there is a great deal of historical and cultural interest and with its splendid range of designer shops and boutiques, (including the nationally famous chocolaterie "Gautiers") it provides excellent opportunities for retail therapy.
La Baule and other popular resorts on the sandy Atlantic coast are within an hour's drive as are Angers and Rennes. |

On the first floor, there is a light, spacious bedroom with views over gardens to the forest. Complete with the original oak flooring and exposed beams, it has both a double and a single bed, with wardrobe and ample storage space.
The tastefully decorated, modern shower room has a thermostatically controlled shower, WC and vanity unit with hand basin. A child's booster step and large baby bath is also provided.
Looking out on to the garden, the comfortable second bedroom is on the ground floor and has two single beds, built-in wardrobe, antique pine chest of drawers and bedside storage.
The large but cosy living area is tastefully furnished with inviting sofas, bookcases, (with a selection of books, DVDs and videos) and a built-in entertainment cupboard, offering satellite TV, VCR and DVD/CD players. There is additional storage in the antique pine chest of drawers and there is a selection of games (Monopoly, Scrabble, Petanque, cards and jigsaws etc.) for you to enjoy.
The dining area has a quality table and seating for up to six people and, although there is also a child?s booster seat, a high chair can be provided if required.
The good-sized kitchen is well equipped with quality washing machine, fridge, microwave, electric in-built oven, gas hob, coffee maker and kettle. It has a wide range of cooking utensils, with cutlery and crockery for eight people. The kitchen overlooks both the garden (good for overseeing young children) and the vine-covered pergola.
The double-glazed conservatory provides extra seating and relaxing space and looks out to the pergola and garden. Quality bed linen is provided.
There is also an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, Baby bath, high chair and cot.
Outside, the patio provides both sun and shade with a suntrap area and a shady grapevine-covered pergola. We have provided a bench in the south facing, lockable garden and there is also a barbecue, large parasol, sun loungers, garden furniture and cushions
The forest area is excellent for walking and cycling so we have provided local maps and itineraries, which are available for your use, and cycles can be hired locally. There is also golf, horse riding, water sports, bowling, cinema, theatre etc. to be found locally, with forest, lakes, wild life, velvet black skies, amazing stars and peace included.
The cottage is reserved for non smokers and we regret that pets can not be accommodated. |
