The Drôme Provençale has many different sides to it that will enliven all your senses.
Imagine the sight and fragrance of the lavender and sunflower fields in bloom; the taste of Pastis, olives and the local Picodon goat’s cheese; the mountains; all the picturesque little villages; the wind and the sun in all its beauty.
Culture, nature, relaxation and activity, there’s something here for everyone. There’s just too much to mention it all.
Souspierre is a tiny place with about 100 inhabitants, but it is ideally situated.
Because it lies so centrally, you can visit all kinds of little villages, enjoy their Provençale markets and admire their many treasures. A fifteen-minute drive brings you to Montélimar, great for shopping.
There are several pretty walks and bike rides starting from our own back garden.
Some of the nearby villages well worth a visit are:
Le Poët-Laval (one of France’s 100 most beautiful villages)
Grignan (Renaissance castle, open-air theatre and markets)
Dieulefit (Pottery – an artists’ village, with a Friday market)
Nyons (a castle, olives and olive oil, a wonderful Thursday market)
Montélimar (nougat - a shopping and culture town, also with a weekly market.)
