Isla Canela is a natural idyllic island some 10 miles square boasting 5 miles of beautiful unspoilt sandy beach. Located in the south-west of Spain at the mouth of the river Guadiana the frontier between Analucia and the Portuguese Algarve; it shares the charm of both areas and all their advantages. Isla Canela offers an exceptional climate with gentle breezes on the coast.
The apartment's location is ideal for the traveller who wishes to experience the Spanish way of life and offers the perfect holiday home for the relaxing, unhurried holiday. Or, if you feel more active, why not take advantage of the nearby sports facilities offering basketball, football, tennis and paddle tennis courts for hire. Bicycles can be hired locally. and boat trips are available from the marina. Play bowls or take a round of golf at the local golf course, or play golf at one of the many courses in the nearby area. Whatever you reasons for visiting I know you will not be disappointed.
The marina with bars, restaurants and grocery stores is only a short stroll from the apartment. A slightly longer stroll will take you to the local fishing village with supermarket, bars and restaurants.
The charming town of Ayamonte is a 10 minute drive and here you can find everything you need for your stay. A daily covered fruit, vegetable, meat and fish market, various supermarkets and shops, cinema, restaurants, bars and banks. Ayamonte also has a small weekly market on Saturdays.
From Ayamonte you can take a ferry (passenger and car) across to Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal or if you prefer to drive the border is 3km away.
15 wonderful beaches stretch along the length of the 150km coastline of the province. Between them they offer the visitor beaches ranging from the well-serviced to the wild and solitary, with the common denominator being golden sands, dunes, pine groves and clean waters.
Inland the Sierra Morena of Huelva has a mountainous landscape full of lakes, olive trees and chestnut trees. Here you can find a district of white villages crammed with well-preserved castles, churches and mosques.
Approximately 99 km away at the Donana National Park, every year 150 species of bird pass through on their migratory routes between Europe and Africa. 190,00 birds usually spend their winter here taking advantage of a mild climate.
The nearest airport to the apartment is Faro (Portugal) and is a 45 minute drive. Seville airport (Spain) is a 90 minute drive. |
