Originally the home of a pioneering family, Baker Cottage today is a charming three bedroom colonial residence situated in the heart of historic Russell, in the beautiful Bay of Islands. The cottage was completely rebuilt in 1999 modelled on the lines of the original Victorian cottage that was first built in 1870. It has been furnished with great care to provide guests first class comfort.

The Bay of Islands boasts 144 Islands and many secluded bays it is one of the finest maritime parks in New Zealand. There is an abundance of marine life, including whales, penguins, dolphins, gannets the famous blue and black marlin.
The Bay offers many activities to choose from; sailing, diving, hiking, beaches, dolphin excursions, golf, fishing charters, fine harvested local food, wine, arts and crafts, Cape Reinga, Ninety Mile Beach and cruising to the Hole in the Rock.
Russell boasts some of the best restaurants and cafes in the bay, excellent tourist shops and many activities to keep the body, mind and soul satisfied. Visit the Russell Museum, Pompallier House, Flagstaff Lookout and Christ Church (the oldest church in New Zealand).
Paihia is located just across the bay via a short passenger ferry ride, or 20 minutes by car ferry. There is an abundance of things to do morning or afternoon. Visit the local souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes.
As the "Birthplace of the Nation", The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is New Zealand's most historic site, it is where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed between Maori Chiefs and the British Crown on February 6th, 1840. Spend the morning visiting the historic Treaty House or admiring one of the world's largest ceremonial waka (canoe).
Kerikeri is the arts and craft area of the Bay of Islands with an abundance of shopping, orchards, vineyards, and restaurants. It was recently voted the best small town in New Zealand.

Minimum Stay Requirements:
Minimum stays throughout the year are 3 days. If you book your holiday over the Christmas/New Year period there is a minimum stay of 7 days. Statutory holiday weekends include Easter (minimum 4 days), ANZAC Day (minimum 3 days), Queen's Birthday (minimum 3 days) and Labour Day (minimum 3 days). All New Zealand Public Holidays are charged at peak tariff.
Deposit Policy:
A 25% deposit is required at the time of confirmation. The balance is required 14 days prior to the commencement date of your holiday. If your deposit has not arrived within 14 days of your confirmation or the balance has not arrived 14 days prior to your arrival we reserve the right to cancel your holiday and or let the holiday home to any other person.
Full payment is required if the commencement date of your holiday is less than 14 days prior to your arrival. Payments can be made by credit card.
Cancellation Policy:
Should you wish to alter or amend your plans, please contact us as soon as possible so we may accommodate your request. Please note that as many holiday home property owners are reliant upon advance bookings, cancellations made within 30 days of arrival are subject to a 25% cancellation fee of the total reserved accommodation.
Cancellations made within 7 days of arrival will incur a 100% cancellation fee. No cancellations are accepted upon, during or after the day of arrival, in which case you will be charged for the total of your reserved stay, if a replacement booking/s can not be secured. We will acknowledge all cancellations in writing.
Changes to Bookings:
Once a booking confirmation has been accepted by all parties, any request to alter dates already confirmed are subject to the holiday home property owner. Changes to confirmed bookings will incur an administration fee of $25.00. BOIHA will acknowledge all amendments in writing.
Arrival & Departure Times:
Your holiday home accommodation will be available for occupation at 2.00pm on the day of your arrival and must be vacated by not later than 10.00am.
Guest Responsibilities:
As the guest, you will be responsible for the holiday home for the duration of your stay. We expect the guests to take all practical and reasonable care of the holiday home and at the end of your holiday you leave the home in the condition in which you found it on your arrival. This includes cleaning all utensils and equipment, returning furniture and appliances to their original position and disposal of all rubbish. If we find that the holiday home is left in an unacceptable condition we reserve the right to bill the guest for cleaning.
The guest will be responsible for all breakages and damage that may occur during the holiday and any cost for repair or replacement will be billed for immediate payment to the guest. Any damage/breakage must be reported to us immediately.

Spacious open living, high vaulted ceilings and modern kitchen area give the cottage an informal relaxing cosy atmosphere. This all timber home with pitched gable roof line is sited on a quiet lane within the Russell Township, only a short 400 metres walk from the Russell jetty.
Two generous sized double bedrooms plus 1 twin bedroom (all bedding & linen provided), spacious living room area with TV & stereo, fully equipped Italian kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, modern bathroom with shower, laundry facilities, sunny veranda's front & back, cottage garden, private off street parking.
