Cae Madog Barn

Cae Madog is a beautiful 19th Century converted barn nestled in the Twymyn valley, with breathtaking views over the Cambrian Mountains. The sandy beaches of the Dovey estuary are less than half an hour away, with Clywedog Lake, famous for its trout fishing, and the world-renowned Centre for Alternative Technology almost on the doorstep. The bustling farm market towns of Newtown and Machynlleth are only a short drive and the local village of Llanbrynmair (3 miles) has a shop, post office and lovely country pub/restaurant.

Cae Madog has been sympathetically converted to provide comfortable and spacious accommodation. There is a huge family room with the kitchen/dining area having an oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. At the other end of the room is a spacious lounging area with a stunning inglenook fireplace, a woodburning stove (logs provided) and gorgeous views.

Up a short flight of stairs is the sitting room, with natural stone walls, slate floor and a woodburning-type stove. There is a widescreen T.V. with a DVD player and a music centre.

Leading off from the family room is an enormous games room (35’), with table-tennis table and darts board, and space to store mountain bikes or surfboards. This room is equipped with a washing machine and indoor drying facilities. There is a downstairs shower room/w.c.

Off of the sitting room is a double bedroom, with a canopied brass bed . Upstairs is the family bathroom, with a bath/shower. The imposing master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and a wealth of exposed beams. The large children's bedroom has 2 bunk beds (each having 1 single and 1 double bed). The fourth bedroom is a twin, with feature stone walls and exposed beams.

Heating and hot water are provided, as are all bed linen and towels. Pets are welcome by arrangement, and smoking is not allowed in the bedrooms.

Outside there is parking for up to 3 cars. At the rear of the property is a patio and barbecue area leading to a lawned garden with uninterrupted views of the Cambrian Mountains.

From the barn or garden you are quite likely to see red kites, a recent successful reintroduction to the area, the red kite centre near Aberystwyth provides spectacular feeding displays of this rare bird of prey. The Mynach Falls at Devils Bridge are spectacular in summer, and a trip on the Rheidol miniature steam railway to Aberystwyth is highly recommended.

Aberystwyth, on the Cardigan Bay coast is a lively university town, with plenty of bars, pubs and clubs for a lively night life.
