Milatos Beach is about a 50-minute drive from Heraklion Airport using both the National Highway and local winding roads (near Sissi). Apartment Marilena is accessed via an unmade track leading off the main road to the village seafront. Airport pick-up or recommended local taxi available (at cost). There is much to do and see locally and island-wide. Crete, known as the 'cradle of civilization', has Minoan Palaces (Knossos), Venetian fortresses and a myriad of churches, museums & historical and archaeological sites. Must do's: Milatos Cave, working town of Neapolis (Thursday market), Agios Nikalaos, Spinalonga (former leper colony), Lassithi Plateau are all within easy reach by hire car or organised excursions booked in nearby Sissi or Malia. Wider afield is Channia, the War Graves Cemetery and the rugged south west (and east) coast. If that's not enough you could take a ferry for island-hopping or fly to Athens for a day (or 2) from Heraklion Airport. We, Milatos Beach & Crete await you!

They are ex-pat Scots who have relocated to the traditional fishing village of Milatos Beach and are on hand to assist guests in any way they can. In addition to providing high quality accommodation in Apartment Marilena, the owners can also offer the opportunity to dine with them in their home. You will be assured of a friendly welcome at Apartment Marilena and Milatos Beach - where you have the ultimate choice in 'being alone', occasionally sharing a glass of wine with the owners, nodding to the many locals who tend their 'vegetable plots' situated around Villa Limani or eating at the waterfront tavernas. Apartment Marilena is quietly situated amongst local Cretan homes and is within a few minutes walk to local tavernas, shops and beaches. Apartment Marilena has been lovingly decorated and equipped to a high standard, has its own private terrace overlooking the mountains and Milatos village above, access to seating in a small garden and offers quiet, seclusion whilst within easy reach of all this beautiful locale has to offer. Guests have a choice of self-catering, eating at any of the excellent local tavernas (highly recommended) and perhaps even an opportunity to dine with the owners on their panoramic balcony above! On hot balmy nights it might be hard to drag yourself away from the private terrace or small garden, where you can have a BBQ (with a glass or two of wine!). But if you can't be bothered cooking take a short stroll (only a few minutes) to the village square and look left-or-right and choose one of the 10-or-so tavernas where you will be made extremely welcome and be offered locally caught fish, Cretan delicacies and the usual pizza/pasta dishes. A great way to eat is the MEZE! - order lots of starters and share, obviously washed-down with some nice wine or beer and finished of with Raki! (local firewater!) and fruit. What more could you ask for? Well you could: Go for a swim in the pool at the Angelike Apts (about 10-15 minutes stroll) or the cooling blue sea, stroll along the seafront, sit at the harbour and watch the 'daily' catch being brought in, go for long (or short!) walks in pleasant and safe countryside, mountains or coastal 'roads'. Don't forget to visit the upper-village of Milatos where you can stroll round the old narrow streets or stop at the local kafeneons for a cooling drink, chat and to meet some of the local characters! After all this 'exhaustion' you can retreat to Apartment Marilena for a well-earned rest! Well, what are you waiting for?
