It is approximately 30 minutes drive from Heraklion Airport. Fodele is known as the birthplace of El Greco and is a traditional Greek village .We are an English couple who live here all year and we will be delighted to help you in any way we can!

Mandarin Grove is set in the heart of a beautiful village beside a leafy park with a picturesque river and surrounded by orange groves. It is secluded, yet close to (50m), a selection of excellent tavernas and small shops with very friendly local people. A beautiful beach nearby and wonderful views of the mountains, complete the idyll! You will experience the truly Cretan way of life as it is still very much an agricultural village with its olive and orange groves, sheep, goats, vines, and vegetable plots (and the occasional donkey!). It is like stepping back in time but, thankfully, with modern conveniences!
As the reputed birthplace of El Greco there is a small museum situated in the house where he lived and there are several statues of him in the village-- the locals are very proud of this association!
Fodele is ideally situated close to several beautiful beaches and approximately 25 km from the capital city of Heraklion. It is conveniently located for exploring the whole island with it's wonderful diversity of mountains, plains, plateaus, wildlife, birds, flowers, towns and villages.The local beach caters for many watersports and culinary pleasures as well as just chilling out! Heraklion provides the shopping, restaurants, museums and, of course, Knossos and other minoan sites. All together-- something for everybody!

| We are an English couple living on site and are here to answer all your questions (we'll try anyway!) about Crete- where to go, what to do, how to do it.There will be a welcome pack waiting for you on arrival and we offer a shopping service too! We can arrange airport transfers (where possible we will do this ourselves for 25 euros - taxis charge 35-40 euros), lifts to the beach, local taxis. car hire and lots more.We aim to help you to have the best possible holiday and we do BBQ's. breakfasts, drinks and meals. We also offer a laundry service and beach towel hire - to save you having to bring so much luggage! The weekly clean and laundry change goes without saying! You tell us what you need and we will do our best to help. |
