Finca Manolo is situated in the beautiful and diverse region known as La Axarquia, within easy driving distance of Malaga and Granada airports,enjoying the superb views and peaceful settings of the countryside (Campo) that surrounds the white pueblos of COLMENAR (Capital of the Montes de Malaga with it's pine clad forests and natural park) and COMARES (the ancient whitewashed hilltop village and former Moorish stronghold). The Axarquia, renowned for having the best climate in Europe, stretches along the coast East of Malaga, heading inland amongst a myriad of unspoilt white villages. Protected by a barrier of mountains to the North and East, this area enjoys something like 3000 hours of sunshine each year.
The largest mountain, La Maroma, standing at just over 2000 metres, often retains it’s snowy cap well into the Spring time, whilst holiday makers soak up the sun on the beaches below! The spectacular sight of La Maroma is a constant companion to our rental property, it also creates a dramatic backdrop to nearby Lake Vinuela, a man made reservoir and previous site of Neolithic and Roman excavations. Now, the lake is used for gentler pursuits such as sailing and canoeing, there is also a picnic/bbq area and a choice of reasonably priced restaurants – all sharing the same spectacular view of the Sierra Tejada mountain range.
From Vinuela, a leisurely 20 minute drive will take you to the coastline (mostly still blissfully unaffected by mass tourism) which stretches between the typically Spanish coastal town of Torre del mar and it’s more ‘sophisticated’ neighbour, Nerja, with numerous fresh fish beach restaurants along the way, it’s well worth a visit!
Moving further inland, there’s so much to see and do, choose from Granada and the resplendent Alhambra palace, Antequera and the Sierra Nevada (less than 2 hours from the coast – you really can swim in the morning and ski in the afternoon)! Or visit the hot springs and natural parks with their majestic rock formations. The area is also great for hill walking, botanists, birdwatching, and can only prove inspirational for artists, writers and photographers.
For the more energetic, we also have horse riding nearby and several golf courses within an hour’s drive, whereas popular watersports can be found on some of the larger beaches.
Once here, you can expect to encounter friendly, hard working people, who will still find time to stop, talk and even lend a hand, albeit on short aquaintance and irrespective of any language barrier!

Available exclusively to guests between June through to September, Finca Manolo has been designed to be the owners’ home for the best part of the remainder of the year, you will find, therefore, that it is furnished with their own belongings, pictures and ornaments, a personal touch which, they hope will, in turn contribute to the comfort and enjoyment of your stay.
With the nearest shops, banks, bars and restaurants only a short drive away, Finca Manolo is ideal for a peaceful unhurried holiday in an unspoilt and seemingly timeless environment.
YOUR ACCOMMODATION
The kitchen has been converted from the old mulehouse and still has the original natural cane ceiling with exposed eucalyptus beams. It’s well equipped with all the usual utensils and dishes, including oven hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and dishwasher. There is also a separate, small, dining room, although this tends to be more for winter use, as most people prefer to take advantage of the glorious climate and dine al fresco
THE LOUNGE has comfy leather sofas, coffee table, satellite TV (some UK channels) and DVD. Please bring own DVDs.
THE BEDROOMS: There are three individually furnished bedrooms, two double bedrooms, the largest of which has a distinct Moorish flavour and overlooks the front terrace - where we have the outdoor hot tub/6 person jacuzzi (normal temperature around 34 degrees!), You can see the former moorish stronghold of Comares perched up on it´s rocky escarpment from here. There is also a further twin bedded room.
We have a useful dressing room with ample clothes hanging space.
There is also a shower room with walk in shower, WC and wash hand basin, together with a second shower room with twin basins.
Outside: A larger than average (10 x 5 metre) "Roman end" mosaic tiled swimming pool with walk in steps and mosaic dolphin, takes pride of place amongst a furnished sunbathing area - from which, once again, you can enjoy the wonderful scenery! There is a shaded dining area overlooking the pool plus a (jolly useful!) poolside bar/BBQ area with outdoor kitchen, sink, gas hob and outside fridge - for keeping the wine cool and nearby! Guests are also welcome to use the outside jacuzzi/ hot tub and will also have access to the roof terrace for admiring those beautiful mountain views. NB. The pool depth ranges from 1.5m to 1.85m and does not therefore have a particularly 'shallow end'
Our Opinion: This is the perfect place to relax, unwind, recharge those fading batteries and simply get away from it all - The perfect Stress Buster!
