Cabo de Palos is a large village located at the base of La Manga strip. It has a good selection of shops and restaurants and is conveniently placed for the large Sunday market which comes to the village every week.
On the seafront there are numerous seafood restaurants to choose from.
Nearby are the undeveloped beaches of Calblanque natural park which are next to the international diving centre of Cabo de Palos.
La Manga Club is just a 5 minute drive away which offers many championship golf courses, tennis courts, spa facilities and much more.
As well as the beaches of Calblanque, you also have the beaches of the Mar Menor. The Mar Menor is a large salt water lagoon which benefits from average water temperatures in the summer of 30c. With warm shallow waters, its the perfect spot for a vast range of water sports. This area is also great for families as the water is warm and shallow for smaller children. The Mar Menor is also very good for the not so young as this area is home to The Black Mud which is said to relieve the symptoms of rheumatism, arthritis and many other ailments.
The region is still typically Spanish with small restaurants and cafeterias serving traditional tapas and other local dishes.
If you prefer not to hire a car, there are regular bus services to many destinations so you can explore further afield.
Other activities which are available in the area are horse riding, sailing, roller skating, go-karting and fishing. Whether young or old, families or couples, there is something for everyone. |
