Located on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Benimeli, 15 Kms inland from Denia on the Costa Blanca coast, and 1 hour from both Valencia and Alicante airports. Xaymaca is a short walk from the village square with its cultural centre, bar/restaurant, grocery store, bakery, butcher and chemist, thereby meeting the needs of both visitors and residents.
There are banks, supermarkets, newsagents and an excellent choice of restaurants in the other nearby villages. Strategically situated, its ideal location allows visitors the best of two worlds: the tranquillity of rural village life yet easy access to many places of interest and coastal resorts such as Denia or Javea (7-10 miles) with restaurants, boutique stores, museums, castles, fishing ports and interesting old quarters. The nearby Jalón valley, famous for its wineries, antique markets, crafts and pottery centres is only 15 mins away. Within a 4-15 mile radius there are: 3 championship golf courses (Oliva Nova, La Sella, Javea), 3 nature parks (Montgó, Marjal de Pego & the Peñón de Ifach), as well as a Safari Park (3 miles). Safe, sandy blue flag beaches or rocky coves for swimming, scubadiving, windsurfing, sailing (5 miles); horseriding, tennis, cycling and nearby mountain trails for walking, hiking, climbing or birdwatching are the perfect complement for those who enjoy an activity packed holiday. Just down the road from Xaymaca, is the starting point of the walking route up to the Sierra Segaria, from where Ibiza can be seen on a clear day. Benidorm’s four theme parks (Mundomar, Terra Mítica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia) are only 30 mins away.
Prehistoric caves at Benidoleig or Pego (4 miles), historic Guadalest, the spectacular Algar waterfalls, Moorish castles or settlements, are only some of the many attractions in the area. Valencia, host city in 2007 to the 32nd America’s Cup Yacht race is 45 mins by highway and we can organize visits on spectator boats to watch this important event.
There is an excellent and varied selection of restaurants offering from local home cooked dishes to international or nouveau cuisine, making it a perfect base for gastronomic or wine tours, because this area now boasts several Michelin star restaurants and excellent prize-winning wines.
There is a full agenda of fiestas and celebrations throughout the year, (Fallas, Moors & Christians parades, Carnaval, etc).
