Historic centre of war of 1812 in wine region near Niagara falls
|
Canada > Ontario > Niagara-on-the-Lake
Niagara Falls is just a 20 minute drive away. The drive takes you through the wine region and past several of the area's 50+ wineries all of which will welcome you in for a tasting.
The Shaw festival is at the heart of any Niagara on the Lake visit with plays by George Bernard Shaw and contemporaries. Go to the Shaw web site to view a list of plays and buy tickets. Buy your tickets early however as they sell out quickly.
The war of 1812 between the British and the USA was fought right on this ground. The town was burnt by retreating Americans in December 1813 (We have forgiven them!) I find Pottery shards when I am gardening. Walk or bike the flat streets and enjoy the history. |
