Additional Information

Wagtail Cottage is in an ideal place for birdwatching. We have Housemartins nesting in our window recesses every summer, Wagtails bobbing around on our lawns & grass verges, Swallows swooping in and out of the outbuildings, a couple of Buzzards in residence down the lane and a Snowy Owl often seen in nearby woods as well as many other types of bird.
Needless to say, the dawn chorus can be quite spectacular!
And its just a short drive down to Budle Bay, an RSPB reserve, where you can watch hundreds of sea birds feeding in the shallows and mud flats at low tide.
Also, just a bit further along the coast is Seahouses, where you can take a boat trip out to the Farne Islands, another RSPB reserve, to see Puffins, Cormorants, Shag and Arctic Tern as well as the islands Seal population! Its well worth a trip.
If you enjoy walking, the Cheviot Hills are within easy reach. Its worth seeing the ancient cup & ring stone markings & Iron Age fort sites that can be found there.
Northumberland also has many Historic Castles. Visit Alnwick Castle, where Harry Potter was filmed, Bamburgh Castle, right on the coast, the spectacular ruins of both Dunstanburgh & Warkworth Castles and the ghostly Chillingham Castle! All within easy reach.
There such a lot to do here. So much in fact that you will just have to come back again to fit it all in!
