Places of Interest Nantes Brest Canal: (1 mile) walk from the property is the canal which provides a lovely aspect for walking and cycling. Next to the canal is a local bar, and a restaurant - Creperie des Forges.
Pleugriffet (2 miles): Pleugriffet village is very small but still affords a small supermarket (behind the school), bakers, hairdressers, two bars and a library. There is also a small lake and children’s play area. The Doctors surgery is located in Pleugriffet.
Reguiny (3 miles): Reguiny is larger than Pleugriffet and its facilities include a supermarket and petrol station, various shops, two restaurants, several bars and a large outdoor heated pool complex. The pool complex is open July and August in the afternoons only. There is also a substantial lake and a small children’s play area. Banks and other amenities are also located in Reguiny.
Josselin (10 miles): The nearby historic town of Josselin with its beautiful Chateau overlooking the canal is very popular with tourists and affords a wide selection of bars and restaurants. Canoeing and the hire of boats is available for exploring the canal. Market on Saturday mornings.
Ploermel (15 miles): Lac au Duc with its man made beaches, water sports facilities and local amenities provides a nearby opportunity for ‘time on the beach’. There is a lifeguard on duty during the months of July and August. Ploermel town centre has a nice selection of boutiques and shops.
Pontivy (20 miles): Larger than Josselin and also situated on the Canal, Pontivy has a wide selection of boutiques and restaurants. Market on Monday morning
Rochefort-en-Terre (40mins) It is a "must see" attraction in Southern Brittany. Apart from the charm of it's architecture, it offers a variety of fine restaurants, bars, creperies, a pizzeria, and many interesting artisan & antique shops, as well as the beautiful 16th century church. 2km from Rochefort is the Parc de Prehistoire (www.prehistoire-bretagne.com), where the children view prehistoric dinosaures.
Auray (45 mins): Auray is a lovely town and has a superb market on a Monday morning. A short walk from the town centre is the harbour of St Goustan where a selection of restaurants can be found, (a little tourist train is a great way to explore the town).
Vannes (45 mins): A beautiful harbour town, with many of the towns’ attractions found within the old city walls. Vannes is very cosmopolitan and has an excellent market on a Wednesday and Saturday morning. There is an aquarium and butterfly farm for the children. Boat trips available, exploring the Gulf de Morbihan. Children will enjoy the little tourist train through the town.
Carnac (55 mins): Carnac is a popular tourist area with a very long sandy beach. There is a very large selection of bars, restaurants and shops typical of those found in tourist areas. Carnac is famous for its ‘standing stones’/megaliths. Markets are Wednesdays and Sundays
Lorient ‘Lamour Plage’ is a very nice beach and like Carnac, the area is aimed very much at the tourist market.
Rennes (100 miles) For those looking to go further afield, Rennes is a very large and beautiful city. Its market on a Saturday is huge and very popular
