Chez Tendeau is situated in a private location deep in "Perigord Vert (& the Dordogne)" just 2.5 km from the pretty town of Bussiere Badil suitable for local shopping. Large weekly markets and super supermarkets can be found close by in Piegut, Montbron & Nontron. There is an excellent choice of local restaurants to suit every budget - "Ferme Auberge de Vallarde (Busserolles), Café des Artist (Bussiere Badil), Auberge du Vieux Chateau (Varaignes) within 5 to 10 minutes drive. A gourmet's feast, at St Saud Lacoussiere just a 25 minute drive.
This is an unspoilt region of rolling wooded countryside interspersed with numerous rivers and lakes. This beautiful area has been designated a Regional Park - the Parc Regional de Perigord Limousin - you will find plenty of interesting information at the house.
The area is full of fascinating market towns - you can choose a different market practically every day to browse around. Interesting Chateaux and a range of cultural activities are nearby with the larger centres of Perigueux, Limoges, and Angouleme all within an hour's drive. For a day out try wine tasting at one of the famous vineyards near Bordeaux, brandy at Cognac, exploring the Dordogne Valley or even a trip to the coast of the Charente Maritime.
Activities
If in doubt bring your bikes - the leafy country lanes & paths are idyllic for cycling with almost no traffic. Canoes and kayaks can be hired from Montbron (10 minutes away) and Brantome for 1 hour to 1 day, depending on how energetic you are feeling. There is a very good quality 18 hole golf course (Golf de La Preze) approx 10 minutes away. This region is lovely for walking and there are many well-marked footpath routes to suit all ages. Horse riding is available at various local riding stables. There are 3 tennis courts at Bussiere Badil (one covered for shaded games) and others found in most local villages and towns.
The great local pastime is fishing and the owners can probably arrange for some private fishing nearby, alternatively permits can be purchased locally for the lakes and rivers within a short drive. This region has many local leisure lakes with beach areas, supervised swimming, pedalos etc, all listed at the property. |

Chez Tendeau is a restored farmhouse comprising a large living room with original beams, with a large wood burning stove and comfortable settees, satellite TV (UK channels), CD/tape/radio player, games, books and dining area. A fully equipped kitchen with breakfast eating area.
Bedrooms are located both on the ground and first floors.
The first staircase leads to two double bedrooms each with double beds, and a bathroom with bath, washbasin and WC. The second staircase leads to a large bedroom with twin beds, and a third single bed, as well as a separate bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC. On the ground floor, there is a large bedroom, also with a double bed, which has French doors opening on to the garden.
Doors from the house open to a large garden, which features a swimming pool (9 x 4m - security alarmed and fenced) supplied with sunbeds and hosting an adjacent al fresco dining area. Additionally, sun terraces offer stunning views across the Dordogne countryside.
Below are a few words people have said about Chez Tendeau after their stay.
"Of all the houses in which we have stayed in France we enjoyed our time at Chez Tendeau the most because of the peace and tranquility of the area and grounds, and the spaceous interior which Meena and Martin have sympathetically restored. The children felt that they had their own wing of the house and of course loved the pool. The house is away from main roads and feels very safe for children; we should have brought their bikes. The countryside is also hilly enough for interesting ( grown up) road cycling and there are some excellent local markets and places to visit which Meena and Martin indicated in their comprehensive house notes. We were sorry to have to leave. Susanna and Gavin Lockheart" "Thank you very much for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday house. We had a fantastic week and hope we could rent it again next year. Thanks ever so much. Steve & Jackie Meadows"
Vincent Laffargue"
Dear Meena & Martin We had a fantastic time at Chez Tendeau. The house is beautiful with fantastic views. The swimming pool was great and all in such a peaceful setting. We can not wait to come again. Please could you let us know the prices for next year so that we can book up early? Best regards Iris & Nic Coman
