Denia is a cosmopolitan town on the coast, midway between Valencia and Alicante which both have international airports. The town is linked by the N-332 and the A-7 motorway. The port offers daily sea voyages to Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca and Formentera. Sea fishing is available and there is a daily fresh fish market. The town and surrounding villages offer much history, firstly as a roman settlement then as the capital of an Arabic kingdom. The beautiful beaches and coves stretch for 20 kms, Las Marinas has a gently sloping beach which is ideal for families. South from there is Les Rotes which is more rocky and ideal for scuba diving. The town offers an abundance of sports and activities. Although a tourist destination, so far Denia has escaped the package tours. Evenings are spent relaxing in the many traditional and international restaurants and cafes that the town has to offer.
