The elegant city of Chania has an ancient harbour in the old town where you can dine or have a coffee. The narrow winding streets offer plenty of shopping opportunities and the old market building sells Cretan wine food spices and herbs. Drapanos itself is a rural country village ideal for walking and beach holidays alike. There are many interesting walks directly from the house and the sandy beaches of Almerida and Kalives are only a short drive away where you will find tavernas, restaurants, bars, and night life. There are 3 tavernas and an a well stocked local shop in Drapanos itself, and the village of Plaka which is nearby offers more tavernas, bars and a supermarket. There is a beautiful view of the White Mountains from the house, and a panoramic view of the sea from the edge of the village. The sunsets in this area are amazing and if you want guaranteed sunshine, a warm sea, and balmy nights then this is the place for you.
