Although there have now been alterations made with regards to the hand luggage allowance that people are able to take on flights leaving from UK airports. It is still important that a person checks with the airline that they are flying with as to what their baggage requirements are. Certainly, when it comes to known what these requirements all of the major airlines can easily provide you with this by logging on to their websites. In this article, we are going to take a particular look at what British Airways baggage information is available.
As mentioned previously just by going to the British Airways (BA) website you will be able to immediately go to the page, which lists all their baggage requirements and entitlements. By knowing what these are then you will not find yourself in a situation where you could end up having to pay excess baggage payments because your case is too heavy.
Below we provide some details regarding the size and weights of baggage that you are able to take on to any BA flight as hand luggage. In addition, we also give details with regard to the size and weight of the baggage that you are allowed to check in and which will be placed in the aircrafts hold during the flight.
For baggage which you are taking on to the plane with you, no longer are you restricted to taking on just one piece instead you are allowed up to two pieces hand luggage with you. The size and weight of the luggage that you can carry on to the flight are as follows:-
1. One standard sized bag which must not be any bigger than 22”x17.5”x9.85” (56cmx45cmx25cm). For this size piece of luggage, you must include within the size any wheels, pockets or handles that it has on it. 2. Along with the above piece of luggage a person can also take on to the flight with them a bag that is laptop sized or a handbag or a briefcase. 3. The larger of the two pieces of baggage, which is being taken on to the flight, must not weigh more than 51lbs or 23kgs. Plus a person should be able to easily lift it up into the overhead locker on the plane without any assistance.
When it comes to baggage that is to be placed into the hold this can be larger than that which is allowed on to the flight. However when it comes to the weight of the luggage it should at no stage weigh more then 32kgs (70lbs). If it does weigh more than this then you will have to pay an excess baggage allowance. Plus as you will discover when reading through any British Airways baggage information is that if you need to take any additional baggage on to a flight you need to warn BA prior to flying with them. They can then account for this luggage taking up additional space in the hold plus it means that it will go on the flight as checked rather than unchecked baggage.
