When visiting Orlando, Florida why restrict yourself to spending time at the theme parks that can be found here. As you will soon discover there is so much more that this place has to offer those who are willing to look.
Why not hire a pontoon or ski boat to spend the day on a lake or travelling along the 300miles of St Johns River. As you meander along the river you can take your chance at catching a few fish, but you may find it more enjoyable just watching the scenery go past. Plus as you do meander down the river for the day don’t forget to look out for some of the wide variety of wildlife that inhabit the water and the banks.
Along with of course the obligatory gators there are plenty of other kinds of wildlife to spot including turtles. Plus you will be amazed at the wide variety of birds that inhabit the water and the banks beside it.
If you are interested in getting a bit closer to the gators then a visit to Gatorland is something that should be included in your itinerary. Here along with the chance to learn more about this natural inhabitant of Florida you have the chance to try some Gator nuggets also.
Another place that is worth spending time away from Disney World and Universal Studios is the Kennedy Space Center. Whilst there take the launch areas tour, have a go at using a spaceflight simulator and of course why not try some space food. If you are lucky when you visit here you may be one of the few people that gets to witness the actual launch of a space craft.
For those of you whose family has older children in the group why not spend some time enjoying all that Fun Spot Action Park has to offer. This is the ideal place for those who want a little more action in their holiday as it provides you with the chance to drive around 4 very unique go-kart tracks. Not only can you race against others but race against yourself.
Another place to consider visiting when staying in Orlando, Florida is Silver Springs. When you visit here you have the chance to view all 350 acres of this natural spring both on land and water. Certainly no visit to this attraction would be complete without spending time out on the water on one of the famous glass bottom boats. Not only will you find they offer you protection from the sun and heat but you can view all the underwater life comfortably.
Be aware that when visiting Orlando, Florida attractions may close when the weather is bad. Often you will find that as soon as a rain storm hits this area then all rides and attractions at the various theme parks will close. This is a safety precaution simply because often when it rains there is also thunder and lighting.
