Greece is a wonderful country full of many landmarks and stories that have survived through many centuries that the country has been inhabited. This is a country that is popular with more than 15 million visitors from around the world each year and below we offer some advice on how to get the most out of your holiday in Greece.
Tip 1 – One of the first places that you should arrange to visit during your holiday in Greece is the Acropolis. This is an area of the country that has been depicted in many books, pictures and movies through the years and is the place of legends.
Tip 2- After visiting the Acropolis take time to spending exploring the ruins of the city of Ancient Agora. Doing this you will be taking steps over the same places that the likes of Socrates and Plato did when they visited the city themselves.
Tip 3 – To really good a great view of the city of Athens it is worth spending some money on taking a helicopter tour. The tour lasts around 30 minutes and from up above you really do get to view the splendors that this ancient city has to offer to its visitors.
Tip 4 – For those who feel a little more energetic then spending time exploring the region known as Vindos Gorge. Located in the northern part of Greece this is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the deepest canyon in the world surpassing that of the Grand Canyon in the USA.
Tip 5 – Although it is great to spend time relaxing on the beaches that Greece has to offer for doing something a little more unusual take time to volunteer to help out at the Archelon Sea Turtle Protection Society. Throughout the summer months this organization needs people to help monitor the nesting habits of the sea turtles that come to their shores.
Tip 6 – Along with the attractions we have mentioned above there are plenty of wonderful events taking place throughout the year in Greece. One event that is proving very successful each year is the Rockwave Festival. Held in the summer this three day event where all varieties of music can be heard from three different stages.
Certainly when it comes to holidaying in Greece there are many wonderful sights to see and attractions to enjoy. A holiday villa in Greece can be the ideal way to visit the country and can be much better than staying in a hotel.
Plus when the evening time comes there is plenty of other wonderful things to enjoy including great food and drink. Sometimes because there is so much to see and do one holiday to Greece is not enough and you may find yourself like others returning to this country time and time again.
