In 2007, a study was carried out online by TripAdvisor, which suggested that around 70% of all Britons would be planning to have 2 weeks, or more holiday in that year. In fact, in recent years we have seen a steady increase in the amount of Britons to take more holidays than they use to.
Certainly, in the poll carried out by TripAdvisor it was found that Britons were likely to take more time off for holidays than any other travellers around the world. There were some people who completed the questionnaire for this online company in Briton who were intending to take more than 5 weeks holiday in 2007.
But as well as these people actually taking more time off for holidays in 2007 compared to 2006 they would also look at spending more on their holiday as well. On average, most Britons would look to be spending between £500 and £1,400 for their vacation during the summer months. Yet there are some who are more than willing to actually spend more than £2,500 on their summer vacation in 2007.
The reason why so many Britons are now willing to spend more on a holiday abroad rather than in the UK itself is because of cheaper travel costs. Budget Airlines plus special deals on boats (ferries) and the Channel Tunnel has now made mainland Europe more readily accessible to them.
But as well as Europe becoming a major travel location for many Britons today, a large number are also travelling much further a field as well. Some people are now saving up in order to take longer vacations in order that they can travel to the other side of the world to either Australia or New Zealand. Plus in recent years now, the USA and especially Orlando, Florida are becoming extremely popular especially for families.
Yet even though travelling around the globe has become much easier and quicker as well as cheaper, many Britons prefer to stay within the confines of Europe for the summer vacation. Not only do they know that they are likely to get great weather, but also the cost of staying there is somewhat cheaper than it would be in the UK.
In most cases when people are looking to take holidays then they will often go for a package vacation rather than organizing it themselves. Simply because these packages offer the traveller, everything that they possibly want a price they can readily afford. It is because of these package offers that more Britons to take more holidays now than they did say 20 or 30 years ago.
