Currently Ryan Air is one of the most popular airline companies offering reasonably priced flights to many major cities within Europe. However, Ryan Air is planning to be able to offer to their passengers flights to the USA for as little as $12 within the next four years. However, unlike BA, Virgin Atlantic or all major US Airlines the Ryan Air Transatlantic Flights will be heading into the secondary rather than the major airports in the USA.
What this then means that rather than their flights going into say JFK or Dallas instead they will be aiming for airports such as Baltimore, Providence, Rhode Island as well as New York Long Island. But in order for them to be able to achieve this, they will first need to acquire around 50 new aircraft for their fleet. They will be looking at either obtaining some Airbus A350s or Boeing 787s in order that they can operate on these flight routes.
The reason why Ryan Air is considering offering such flights to their customers throughout Europe and not just Ireland and the UK is because of the EU and US Open Skies Agreement. This agreement between the EU (European Union) and the US now means that airlines can now launch transatlantic flights.
But just as with their current flights within Europe the flights that Ryan Air are planning to take people to North America will be no frills flights. Certainly although the flights will be cheaper than normal, a person will need to take into consideration the costs of extras whilst flying.
In fact as with all Ryan Air flights today food, drink, entertainment and duty free items will all be additional costs that their passengers will need to take into account. However as well as offering discounted flights Ryan Air will offer to those passengers will to pay an additional fee a premium service. This will offer passengers a little extra comfort whilst flying from Europe to the US.
Because Ryan Air is so well established within Europe the company will find it far more easy to be able to deal with around 40 to 50 long haul flights each week compared to any of the other no frills airlines. In fact when it comes to the Ryan Air transatlantic flights the company is hoping to be able to fly to around 5 or 6 US cities from any one of the 23 European bases that Ryan Air have before the end of 2010.
But rather than the flights being part of the well-established Ryan Air flights already available the company intends of offer Ryan Air transatlantic flights through a sister company instead. Certainly if this comes to fruition this will certainly have BA, Virgin Atlantic and many major US Airlines looking at ways in which they will be able to compete.
