Tips for Taking a Holiday in the City of Dubai
Date: 15 September 2008
Dubai is situated in the Persian Gulf and is part of the United Arab Emirates or UAE. It is in fact the capital city of UAE and may sometimes be referred to as Dubai City. After Abu Dhabi, this city has the second large population in the UAE and only 6% of its revenues come from oil. Unlike other parts of the UAE the majority of the revenue for this city does in fact come from tourism.

The climate in this city is a sub tropical arid one and although it does have some rainfall it is not only irregular but also not very frequent. The weather in Dubai is warmest between November and March and along with it being warm it is very sunny which can make it unbearably hot for some people. However, during the winter months the temperatures don’t get much above 23 degrees centigrade and the nights are also much cooler as well.

When visiting this wonderful and exotic city there are plenty of things for one to do and see during a visit and to get to it flights only take 4 hours from London. In this article we take a look at the kinds of things one can do and see when visiting this exotic city.   Certainly one of the best features about Dubai is the fact it is a very new city and many of the buildings and holiday homes in Dubai are brand new, coming with all the latest features.

1. Al Boom Tourist Village which is close to Creekside Park and contains a 2,000 seat banqueting hall, coffee shop, restaurant, ornamental lake, marina that has five cruise boats and an amusement park. It is located close to Wonderland Family Park and is open every day of the week from 9 in the morning to 1 the following morning.

2. Bait Al Wakeel was built in 1934 by Sheikh Rashid and was the first office building to be erected in Dubai. It is situated at the edge of the Creek close to the Abra landing and has now been completely restored. Today inside is a museum looking at the history of Dubai’s maritime and fishing traditions.

3. Bedouin Village is ideal for those who are after some adventure during their holiday to this part of the world. Along with experiencing the traditional way of living in the desert one can take some lessons on how to ride a camel. Whilst staying here you have the opportunity to experience what a real desert safari is like.

4. The Deira Covered Souk has a much more Indian rather than Arabic feel to it. Along with textiles and spices being for sale other items such as clothes, henna and kitchenware can be purchased here. But what really draws people to this particular location in Dubai is the smells and flavors.

Above we have taken a look at some of the places one can visit when holidaying in Dubai. However, if you are visiting this country you need to be aware of certain customs and traditions that one will be expected to follow. So it is important that you learn more about these and ask your travel agent what they are before arranging your holiday.
