Why Choose to take a Holiday in France?
Date: 18 August 2008
Holidays in France have been increasing in popularity over the years because they offer their visitors a wide variety of different attractions to choose from. Along with the wonderful coastline there are many wonderful places to stay n the mountainous areas of the country. Whilst for those who are looking for something a little less hectic staying in one of the rural areas is suitable as well.

But not only do tourists come to enjoy the many attractions that France has to offer some come for religious purposes as well. One such location which receives millions of visitors each years is the town of Lourdes. This is famous as in 1858 that an apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes appeared to Bernadette Soubirous. This wonderful town lies in the very foothills of the Pyrenean Mountains and is now a town that is only second behind Paris with the number of hotels that are situated within it.

Of course when visiting France no holiday is complete without one spending time in the country’s Capital Paris. Here there are numerous wonderful sights to see and attractions to visit. The main ones of course being The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, The Pompidou Centre and of course Notre Dame Cathedral.

Plus if you really want to enjoy the spectacle of Paris one must enjoy a scenic trip down the Seine at night on one of the many boats. Plus of course no visit is complete without visiting The Lido or Montmartre. Whilst for those with children a short distance by train from Paris itself is the Disneyland Resort.

When considering visiting places such as Paris or Lourdes this is best done during the spring or autumn time when the weather is not too hot. But for those looking for some excitement they tend to flock to France’s mountain ranges to enjoy skiing in the Alps and Pyrenees in the winter.

For accommodation in France one will find that there are plenty of options to choose from. There are plenty of places that offer self catering accommodation as well as privately owned holiday homes in France.  For a real taste of France why not look at a traditional French gite in the heart of the French countryside.

One of the main reasons why France is proving to be a popular holiday destination with British holiday makers is the ease with which is can be reached. Today no longer do we have to rely on the many ferry crossings that are available but instead catching the Eurostar either from London or Ashford, Kent can have you within the heart of the country’s Capital in a matter of a couple of hours.

Then to explore further afield on your holiday in France one can either catch another train or hire or use your own car to drive to your preferred destination. Certainly since the introduction of the Eurostar Train Service many people have found what a wonderful holiday in France can be.
