Thinking Australia? Why not visit Perth
Date: 9 October 2009
The city of Perth, Australia is not only the largest in the Western state of this country but also is its capital. It was founded in 1829 by Capitan James Stirling as the political centre for the Swan River Colony and today still serves as the seat of Government for Western Australia.

However, along with the city itself there are many other places that one can take in during time spent in this beautiful Australian city. Below we look at some of the other attractions that are worth considering spending time at.

1. Perth Sunset Coast – This is the type of place that those who enjoy swimming, long walks or just laying in the sun will like. These beaches are very sandy and clean and on a sunny day a dip in the surf that rolls up on to them is recommended to help you cool down.

2. Fremantle – This is a popular place for many people to visit especially at the weekends and is located just south of Perth. At the weekends the city comes alive with markets and plenty of street entertainment. Plus if you find yourself a little thirsty and hungry wandering around the many market stalls there are plenty of places offering alfresco dining.

3. Swan Valley – For those who would like an opportunity to sample some truly great Australian wines then a visit to this area of Perth is a must. Here one can find more than 40 vineyards where some good quality wines are produced and in many cases are still run by the families who originally started them up.

4. Rottnest Island – Only a short ferry trip from Perth this is a perfect place to spend a few days. The atmosphere compared to the city of Perth, Australia is far more relaxed and allows you a good opportunity to unwind and forget about the stresses of modern living. Also why not take time out to meet a very unique marsupial that has given this island its name namely the Quokka.

5. Perth Hills – If you are someone who really would like to immerse themselves in Australia’s natural bush land, then a visit here is a must. But along with allowing you the chance to view some of this countries beautiful fauna and flora it provides you with magnificent views over the city itself.

6. Northbridge District of Perth – For those who are looking for a little more excitement at night then this is the perfect place to visit at the weekend. Along with pubs and cafes where a wide array of foods can be enjoyed there are plenty of nightclubs to take in as well.

Above we have shown you just some of the places that you can enjoy during a visit to Perth, Australia. So you may find that you need to spend more than a week here to actually explore and enjoy everything that this vibrant and multicultural city has to offer you.
